HF> Sounds like I'll have to look for some Nevil Shute next time I add to
HF> my to-read shelf. I'd heard the name in connection with On The Beach,
HF> but never read any. Are any of the stories mysteries?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hmmmm. Probably not in the true sense. Some of his plots do have a
inference of mystery which of course adds interest to the story.
If you start reading him, hope you enjoy his works as much as I did. I have
read everything he had written that is available.
HF> Speaking of romance without sex, have you ever read any Patricia
HF> Wentworth?
No, but will look her up on the computer and check it out.
BQ> He writes a bit like Upfield and I would imagine they were probably
BQ> friends of a sort sometime and somewhere during their lives. Shute's
BQ> books need not be read in sequence as they mostly involve separate
BQ> people.
HF> That's useful to know. I'll just grab what I can find, then.
A couple of very good ones to start with, both made into movies some years
back, are: "A Town Like Alice", and "Pied Piper".

Bert
