        To add to your extremly correct statements, there are single
moms who intentionally exclude the father from the family ( a
new hobby of bar flys in my town - man I'm talking about a whole
class ), children of drug abusers, and children of outlaws all attending
public school.
 
        Here's one for the books, when I was teaching in Randle,
Washington one of the High School Students was busted at school for
drugs.  The county police stopped by and arrested him.  However, in the
State of Washington, a child who is arrested in a public school must
have their parents notified prior to leaving the grounds.  The Deputy
told our principal " No problem, I know just where Dad is located."  He
called the Jail, talked to Dad from Dad's cell, and off junior went to
share a cell with Dad.  Oh! A chip off the old block.
