XP doesnt use the autoexec.bat and config.sys as you knew them, for
purposes of startup.

You can however install Internet Rex as a system service, which means it
will start up automatically when the system boots.

rexcfgw

OS dependent options ==> Windows ===> Install as service.

However before you do this, make sure you have rex setup to run properly in
daemon mode, otherwards properly configured.

launch a console window and run rex manually in daemon mode like so:

rexw -DAEMON

If all is well, then install it as a service..

If you arent listening for inbound connections, there may not be a need for
you to run rex in this fashion?

But in daemon mode you can set its built in scheduler to poll etc..

DOS is no longer at the foundation of XP.
