I understood. I just had that nugget I offered on my mind.

It's true that "we", under Bush, ARE engaging in a period of 
empirialism. And with alot of stupid blind followers gleefully saluting 
him. (Check out the politics echoes).

My point with the Sudan was that Condy Rice effectively said that the 
tsunami tragedy was a great diversion. I'm sure Bush and his people were 
jumping for joy! They had something major to distract the sheep-people.
A "Hey look over there!" while they pick our pockets.
