Yes, we have the same scheme here. And whatever is left after the
usable parts are gone is taken by the scrap metal people and
recycled.

Maybe there's no profit in recycling scrap steel in Germany.

Do they have any local steel mills, or do they have to export the
scrap to some place where it can be processed?

We have plants in South Aus that go all the way from the ore to
finished steel, so reprocessing it is no problem.
