 Hi Fred....enjoying your time off?

DER> Errr...ummm....the good girl won in the end?

FR> Doesn't sound as though you are being excessively enthusiastic about
 FR> this one.

You obviously have brilliant powers of deduction! :)

DER> I haven't read anything by Grimes (that I can remember!) so let me
 DER> know what you think!

FR> Ok, will do. I've read all of her works so far, at least of of her
FR> Scotland Yard "Supt. Jury" novels, along with another, END OF THE PIER
FR> (I think), which was set in the US.

Oh, Lordy! Sounds like I might have to add yet a few more titles to
that ever growing list! The way that list is growing, if I intend to
read them all before I die, I will probably have to give up BBS'ing!
 > What a GRUESOME thought!!

FR> Poor Morse--all of his "Scotland Yard competitors" get promotions in 4
FR> or 5 novels to Supt. and Chief Supt., and here he is, in his 10th novel
FR> and he's still stuck at Chief Inspt., and now there's a recommendation
FR> to do away with the title of Chief Insptr.

Sounds like something that would happen to Morse!

BTW, I just finished a couple of really good ones! The first was Bad
Love by Jonathan Kellerman. It is one of his Alex Delaware stories and
is certainly much better than his latest one. Couple of really
surprising twists at the end!

The second is Web of Smoke by Erin Grady. It was EXCELLENNT. I started
it yesterday morning and couldn't put it down! I finished it late last
night and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was mounting suspens from page
one, with some excellent twists at the end. The characters were
believable, without a lot of extraneous narrative. I'm not sure if she
has written anything else or not, there is nothing shown in the book.
It's only 284 pages of real small type :(. A very good, quick read.
