I learned a lot baout the '17 that was new. And today while ooling around on 
the internet, I found WWW.Avnet.com that had a story from 1944 covering a 
B-17 of the 8th that was hit in the horizontal stabilizer by another plane of 
their group. The plane that was hit did a loop and ended in a spin. Crew 
recovered and made a successful landing. Pilot got DFC. The theme was above 
all else, fly the plane.
