Are you familiar with a "boa" used in mainframe environments?  These are very 
thick, fat cables that vaguely resemble boa constrictors.  They can be run 
for long distances to connect mainframe installations.  We once had a 
customer engineer accidentally kick one out of its socket, shutting down the 
entire facility for hours.  After that, he was banned from the site.
