 It's a common enough signal and in fact an ASL sign for 'dog'.

 Ah.. I like that. A designated place. Did I tell you how poor Patches
when he was getting sicker... he'd have (number 2) accidents in the house
but always in thes exact same spot. Funny thing is now Abbie when she was
in training would have her accidents (number 2) in the exact same spot
as well. That exact same spot. We call it 'Patches' spot'... (right by
the TV).
