Hiya Will,
On 09-02-98, whilst lying in the gutter of the information super highway, I
heard Will Hargrave whispering to Neil Croft about Upgrade,
 NC>> There are always exceptions. Most common fail I've seen in Cat5 stuff
 NC>> is when people kick it out of the floor port. It's still better than
 NC>> a co-ax system though.
 WH> Even then, that only knocks out that one node, so it's not really a
 WH> problem.
Except if it's the server feed that someone kicked. I do recall an engineer
here trapping an X21 cable in a cabinet door. He's a bit of a heavy handed
type and when the door wouldn't close properly he forced it. My phone was
ringing before he got back from the machine room and he was promptly
dispatched back from whence he'd come with a drum of cable and the crimps.
)
 WH>>> especially the twisted pair variety. Low speed backbone, anyone?
 WH>>> ;-)
 NC>> I've just slung a pair of active hubs out. That's the last of that.
 WH> Wah! I'm starting up an arcnet network now. For some reason.
Sad. Really sad.
