RC> Some do and some do not. Many of the 56k modems support both flash
RC> ROM and a programmable DSP.
Well, I never heard of Programmable Rockwell chipset, but I'd be happy
to know if they have those DPS chipsets. I believe the two major company
that will come out with X2 software upgrade is USR and ZyXel. IBM's MWave
seems to be a bit too weak in processing data... it chokes when you play
sound and run 28.8... anyone know any other modems that allows software
upgrade for X2?
dw> Also, according to USR, the Teleco limites the top speed at
dw> 53.3Kbps or something close...
RC> The FCC limitation is on signal level. The level limit makes 56K
RC> unlikely. But the limit is on signal level, not speed, per se.
Wouldn't that signal level cause clipping with 56K transmission?
RC> The Courier has flash ROM and a programmable DSP.
Yes, I'm aware of that fact, and that's the reason that I buy Courier...
... Don't question authority. It doesn't know either.
