Hmmm... yes, I can see how the VCO could possibly be pushed up,
by lowering the values of the external timing resistors. Output
rise/fall times at 15v supply are typically 65/37 nS, so the
output should still be reasonably square at a couple of megs.

But how well does the phase comparator section work at those
frequencies? My book doesn't show any limit frequencies for it.

OTOH it wouldn't help the project that I've had on my books
for... hmmm... must be about 20 years... to build a synthesised
first LO for my comms receiver. The oscillator has to go from 6.5
to 33MHz in 0.5MHz steps, to replace 11 crystal locked
frequencies.

As you can imagine, a comms receiver with a range from 3.5 to
30MHz, in only eleven 500kHz bands has some B-I-G holes in its
coverage.

I have most of the parts for the job. All I need is a round tuit
or two...
