FYI, the correct solution is to use a utility such as Ontrack Data Recovery
for
Netware or shareware JCMD to kill the database, run install and create NDS,
and then restore NDS from tape. *.DS are located in the _NETWARE directory.
Also, I recall there being a command line to do something similar on the
SERVER command line.
