Tradeoffs, tradeoffs... While I think that a lot of the code written today
basically stinks, it is difficult to achieve the level of functionality
that is expected of today's apps, without uaing a very high-level, reusable
codebase, be it oop or whatever. The sad part is, that many programmers
just a tad younger than me have never actually had to think about limited
memory or processor power, so they're basically clueless about even the
most basic optimising where a lot could be done by just thinking about how
the logic in a program code works, and what it means performance-wise.
