We have several radio stations like that. We had one local
"viewer-suported" TV station , but they were closed a couple of
years ago for not complying with their licence requirements.
Our public broadcasters are totally taxpayer funded in the case
of the ABC TV and radio services.
SBS TV and radio services are partially taxpayer funded, with the
balance coming from "corporate sponsorship".
RJT> I've heard of that being done in other countries, and really like the

RJT> don't watch that much tv, though, overall, and when I do it's stuff

We don't have such on the "free-to-air" and I don't know what's
on cable so I can't comment.
GM> And many of our commercial radio stations still have good music
GM> that is NOT stomped all over.
RJT> Not too many since I last turned on the radio.
Fortunately in Adelaide we have a wide selection on radio, about
20 FM stations and 6 or 7 AM last time I counted. They have a
very wide range, ethnic, middle-of-the-road, rock, classical,
current affairs and talkback, with several stations varying the
mix during the day.
