Yes, the balun mounts on the back of the Drake tuners for use with balanced 
lines.  When they come available, they're very expensive, in comparison to 
their original cost, what you paid for your Drake tuner and the cost to homebrew a 
replacement.  

If you're not running balanced feeders, you don't need the B-1000, of course. 
 I used the space on the back of my MN2700 where the balun would mount to 
provide extra, switched, SO259 connectors.  The mod is completely reversable and 
adds to the functionality of the 2700 for me, since I run coax exclusively for 
my antennas.
