| subject: | Current state of Maximus for Linux |
BJ> Unfortunately, a "two month" contract went 2.5 years BJ> and has kept me out of max for a bit.... There were BJ> some others working it, but not much for about a year BJ> or so till a recent attemp to compile on a Windows BJ> based system.... RdL> Well that's good news for you.. steady employment :) Yes... for me.... Bad for maximus development due to employment issues. BJ> current code does under Linux. I don't think anyone BJ> has been interested in getting the DOS doors running BJ> under dosemu..... RdL> Does this mean nobody is interested in running DOS RdL> doors at all, or DOS doors under dosemu? (is ther any RdL> other way?) If I can't get my DOS doors running on RdL> the linux Maximus, I won't use it. Without them, my RdL> bbs is just a place to access FidoNet and download a RdL> few files. At this time there has been little interest in the maximus code development under linux. I believe no one at the time we last touched the code was working on running DOS doors on a Linux system under DOS emulation. And I believe I've seen reference of problems with DOSEMU running under some of the newer linux kernels, at least the last time I looked a few months ago.... And some of the items I want to get running (beyound consolidating the BBS to a Linux system running other items), tend to push the system towards running a newer kernel.... Care to help with development?
