Don't assume that. Creationists are just ONE hinderance to adequate
propagation of scientific knowledge. Other places, societies, and
cultures have their own versions that are equally worrisome.

To achieve what you say our species has to outgrow a long hangover from
evolution that makes so many of us cling to fantasies.

This not a problem generated or maintained solely by Christianity.
