You are far from being a "wimp". In fact, you show the competence to be a
good diver. Being able to say NO, and not giving in to pressure is an
important trait. I tell all my students that if they don't feel comfortable
with the dive, the site, their buddy, etc., then don't do the dive.
Intuition means a lot in this sport.
