subject: Hi

-> I am dogless now and have been for 3 years. Not in a situation to have another
-> dog because husband's medical problems have kept us from doing major fence work
-> and garage door repairs to make yard secure again for dogs. Wasn't a problem
-> with the last dog because she was old and a spook who would not venture out of
-> familiar territory but any new dog would be gone through any one of a number of
-> escape routes in clear view. Had 3 cats until day before yesterday when had to
-> help Cameo at 16 to Rainbow Bridge with visit to vet. The 2 I still have are
-> about 7 and 11, spend most time in house or sunning themselves in front on top
-> of truck or car when we are home. Neither of them are wanderers.

I've got a cute dog story.

First off I've a perfectly behaved Pit Bull of 15 years
of age.
He's NEVER messed up and walked off lead always.
attacked by 14 dogs and repeatedly by one cat he's never
retaliated.

Now for 13 years his rabies notification certificate stated he was
a "Pit Bull."
Last year my Vet corrected that to British Staffordshire ( the older
naming convention for one of three kinds of Pit Bulls).

Seems no-one at animal control is familiar with that old naming
convention as they're now called merely Staffordshire Terriers.

So this year notice just came and now he's a "mixed/other".

My Pit Bull has been downgraded to a mutt

I've decided he's now a Boston Terrier - Beagle mix

This is all to the best because the media has people in hysteria over
the breed when it's an irresponsible or vicous owner that's
at fault.
I can easily take a steak from my dog's mouth with no problem.

Spanky must be getting near the end of his life but he's still healthy
and happy.
The enire neighborhood loves the dog.

I'll know when it's time to put him to sleep too.
