Yes and yes.
Drake was unable to get 6EV7s in production quantities and so switched
to the 6FQ7s. It shows in schematic 10077626670, but was used
"unofficially" before that. There were a couple of resistor changes as
well, e.g., a cathode resistor was used with the 6EV7 and removed with
the 6FQ7, but Drake didn't recommend any changes when swapping tubes.
Both are readily available today for replacement purposes, ESRC lists
them at $4 and $8 respectively. The 6AQ8 was even used for a while, but
had a different filament current and since the T-4X used a
series-parallel filament arrangement you had to add a current equalizing
resistor.
