 Nope, you didn't think it through. Jeff Binkley has posted
 extensively on a sales tax as a replacement for the income tax.
 All the benefits accrue to replacing payroll taxes with a sales
 tax, but the down side doesn't.

 And if you don't think American products are less competitive
 because they are taxed when they are sold in Europe, but
 European products get their sales taxes rebated, thereby making
 them more competitive her, then you definately have not thought
 it through.
