subject: Geoworks Rotunda Synopsis

Synopsis of Aug. 14, 1996 AOL Geoworks Rotunda:
The guest was Bill Osborne, owner of Universal Software...
and now President of the new Republisher "New Deal Inc". He
talked about *New Deal Office* (the new name for the Geoworks
Ensemble package).
 1) There will be a posting later this month regarding the
cost of updating to v2.1 including, or NOT including manuals.
The updated version should be available in the first part of
October. The overall look/feel will remain.
 2) The update will consist of bug fixes (including the Pen-
tium/Win'95 installation bugs), the Bindery-format "Book-
reader" application, possibly some new printer drivers, a
new "splash" screen and hopefully the new European video
drivers. Apparently there will also be some sort of FAX capa-
bility released seperately in the following months. Version
3.0 will have FAX capability built-in.
 3) A new SDK, requiring only a single development machine,
is apparently being worked on as well.
 4) The company will have a presence on AOL and the Internet.
 5) A new copy of "New Deal Office" will have a suggested
price of $99.95 and will still work well with OS/2. Also, a
network version, which has been tested under many versions
of Netware, will be released as well.
 6) They will actually be releasing THREE products: New Deal
Office (v2.1), New Deal Lite (v1.2.8- essentially Quick Start)
and NewDos (an undetermined-at-present version of DOS along
with NewManager: presumably v2.1 "Geo"Manager, if you will).
 7) There will be an AOL NewDealRep: USIKenL.
 8) There will be more information released in mid-September.
 9) New Deal plans to implement aggressive developer support.
 10) Users will likely be eligible to help sell the software
if they want to.
 11) Version 2.1 will still be 16-bit.
 12) Version 2.1 will be translated into several languages
which should be available before Christmas.
 13) User requests/suggestions/comments were taken for con-
sideration, along with marketing suggestions.
I will be offering only synopsis' of AOL Geoworks Rotunda's
in the future, to insure no violation of copyright laws.
Other information re: the update was also released. Watch
for complete details of that in the next few days.
