The average produce travels 2,000 miles. > The local farmer's market -- indeed. Maybe I should have said > "agri-business" rather than "farmers". Lezlie I'm with you, there.... Sorry, being a child of agriculture (and, even, a Cal Aggie) I think with a thinner sieve in that regard.... picky picky picky tygress PS> Lezlie, I know it's non-trivial for you to get to San Rafael, but their farmer's market is Outstanding. My in-laws go on Sundays, but I know there's a weekday offering, too. And by the time my in-laws arrive, it's LATE morning, so you don't have to be a first-lighter to get good produce. I suspect Berkeley and other hill folk on your side of the bay have an answer to the Marin County market.... unfortunately for us, it was one of the first we attended, so the best of the best set the standard by which most others stumble far short. [The Round Rock market has, oh, 6 tables worth -- though I'm told there's a big one about 40 minutes south of us we should check out.] ==== But what life is without danger, really? [Jill Fredston, arctic adventure's] father, Arthur Fredston, a courtly Manhattan attorney, was walking near the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001. Her mother, Elinor Fredston, was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer almost six years ago.... So, compared with terrorism and cancer, what's an occasional polar bear? --Michael Ryan --- Rachel's Little NET2FIDO Gate v 0.9.9.8 Alpha* Origin: Rachel's Experimental Echo Gate (1:135/907.17) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 135/907 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
