I'm not sure, but is it possible you are talking about the Uniden
MR-8100?  It was marketed towards the law enforcement comunity but not
too successfully.  It is a 100 channel scanner, mobile or base mounted,
that is programmed via a serial cable and a computer.  It does not
really have much going for it, except that it is easier to programm via
a computer keypad than the radio keypad. It does not have any search
facilities at all.  Not sure if this is what you heard about or not.  If
not, I would also be inteested in finding out more.  Thanks.
