thats their problem... the average user should know better than to just
toss something from their computer when it seems to not work anymore...
most average users i've heard of take the computer to a service
centre...
besides which, what the average user thinks it is and what it actually is
usually are wildly different things, but if you spread the word that software
can only affect software in all but the most bizarre and incredibly rare
ases
then eventually the regular user will smarten up and not assume that
non-hardware damage was hardware damage...
