CM> The Closed Captioning came with my TV, but with the
CM> loud commercials blowing me off of the couch, and
CM> giving me minor heart attacks, I'm using the feature
CM> more and more, with the sound off, or way down.
I like to use Closed Captioning late at night, so I don't disturb other
people's rest.
CM> If you like comedy, you'll love Closed Captioning. These
CM> clowns have an error rate of about 5 per minute on live
CM> shows, and about 1 per minute on taped material.
You got that right! Haven't these people ever heard of a spelling checker?
By the way, I've seen a computer program that "hears" spoken speech and
converts it to written dialog on the computer screen. A person could monitor
such a program and make corrections--in fact, the program can learn new
words, too.
Happy Holidays!
