This echo is just one of a family of OS/2 echos on Fidonet. Back in 1988, we
needed only one OS/2 echo for all discussion of our new OS, but over time our
traffic has grown enough to require new echos for certain important topics.
Please use the most appropriate echo for your discussions. Topics which are
appropriate for one of these related echos are considered off-topic here.
OS2DOS is for the discussion of DOS and Windows software running under OS/2.
OS2HW is for the discussion of hardware compatibility with OS/2. This can
include specific motherboards and complete systems, SCSI adapters and
evices,
video systems and monitors, sound boards, CD ROMS, tape backup systems, etc.,
and for drivers for all of the above hardware.
OS2GAMES is for the discussion of games running under OS/2, including native
OS/2 games and DOS/Windows games.
OS2INET is for the discussion of Internet usage under OS/2, including the
OS/2 Internet Access Kit and other Internet access tools and service
providers.
OS2BBS is for the discussion of Bulletin Board Systems running natively under
OS/2. A related conference, OS2DOSBBS, is for discussion of DOS-based BBSs
running under OS/2.
OS2LAN is for the discussion of OS/2 in Local Area Network environments.
OS2PROG is for the discussion of application development under OS/2 and tools
for such development.
OS2REXX is for the discussion of the REXX programming language that is
built-in to OS/2.
TeamOS2 is for the discussion of grass roots promotion of OS/2 by individuals
(both within and outside IBM) and OS/2 user groups.
The OS2 echo (this echo), is for the discussion of OS/2 itself, native OS/2
applications, OS/2 in the market, OS/2 in the press, the future of OS/2, etc.
OS-DEBATE is for comparing the virtues of various operating systems,
ncluding
OS/2, DOS, Windows, NT, AmigaDOS, Unix, TRSDOS, VMS, MVS, and whatever other
OSs you can think of to compare.
All of these echos are on the Fidonet Backbone. If your local system doesn't
carry an echo in which you would like to participate, please ask the sysop to
add it for you. In some cases, you may find that you need to call more than
one BBS to access all of the echos that you need. Note that lack of access
o
a particular echo is NOT considered an acceptable excuse for being off-topic
in this one.
Thanks for your cooperation.
And thanks to Jim Gilland for providing the text of this message. Please
folks read this message and pick the appropriate echo to post in.
