There is a practical limit if you don't allocate specific fonts to
specific applications and that is the number that will appear on the
"pop-up" menu. Once you have a screen full (and the number will depend
on the screen font size and the screen resolution) there is no provision
to open up another screen, leaving the font you want out of reach. So
one screenful is the practical limit if you want to select all your
fonts from the pop-up menu. At 1024 x 768 and large screen font, that is
170.
