subject: What is Allfix/Areafix/TIC ?

PK> Some tools (such as allfix) can work with both, but it al comes
PK> down to how you CONFIGURE them.

ML> Does Seal do all these things ?

PK> No, Seal only handled Message Bases. I think Allfix was the only
 PK> combined one.

SA> Seal does both, and can identify itself as Seal
ML> Echo, Seal File, or as
SA> aliases such as Allfix and Areafix.

ML> Has the areafix standard changed much since 1996'ish ?

ML> Sounds like Seal's the way to go. But I wonder why it
ML> never got to a full version ie. v1.00. Do you use it ?

Source code to Seal was lost by the author in a hard drive crash after the
0.50 release. From memory, there is a bug if you do a clean install of
0.50. When upgrading from a 0.40 install, I believe the needed control
file change is there. I seem to recall some folks were happier with the
0.40 code over the 0.50 code. I believe both versions are still
available....

ML> There's Nef TIC processor and Areafix for Squish
 ML> (SQAF99A8.ZIP) that sound promising.

There is also SQAFIX, a tool I've been using (for message echo area
maintenance). Let's see, EchoFix is another tool I use on rare occations
to clean up my control files....

Take care.....
