I have several Hammond 380 chips I was going to use for someting of that sort, though at this point I don't think I'm going to bother. I'll bet I can get a real good price for them at this point, probably way more than I paid for them. GM> That was one project a friend of mine started some years ago, that GM> used a lot of them... For keying? This would tie in somewhat to my earlier experiments which involved the use of analog switches to do electronic volume control, sort of. You really want more than simple on-off control for keying organ notes, and it's best to have more than one set of keyswitches, or at the very least double-pole switches. It's kind of handy to be able to have percussion and sustain effects, as well as perhaps a loudness variation that depends on how hard (how fast) you hit the key. Did your friend ever finish the project? Closest I ever came to something of that sort was getting a couple of organs years ago, but one had been seriously smoke-damaged and I was only able to salvage a few parts off it, and the other one had belonged to a lady who had a *lot* of cats, with predictable results. There really wasn't any salvaging either of them. And I'd want at least a complete keyboard or two before I'd even consider messing around with such a project, not to mention a box or cabinet to build them into. Speakers and power amplifiers and such would probably come in handy too. And I don't have either the time or the space, not to mention the inclination to do such a thing these days... ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
