Yes I guess you could start to call it that. I know my Dad did it with his
also.
Weather wise it should (and usually is) settled then. Hence why the mountain
club run their guided open climb around then. But health and saftey concerns
and practices have lifted a lot over the last few years. So clubs especially
have to be extra vigilant to ensure they have all the bases covered. A whiff
of anything not quite right and the pull the plug. So this year that's what
happened. We were off and away at 5.30am climbing up and by 9am with the
summitt about 45 mins away (my guess) they said sorry turn around.
It's a good lesson for my son about perseverance and trying again when you
don't first succeed etc. :)
