Well look at it this way - You need a 500 mb Linux installation with all
the GCC stuff, libs & headers to build the source in the first place :)
That's a form of bloat in itself.

I don't mind if all the tidbits, external tools, libs & headers come
packaged with the source. But when you have to go digging for dozens of 3rd
party tools with version compatibility doubts; that really pisses me off.

The Max 3.01 binaries were about 3 mbs. All you needed was a DOS box to run
it. No hassles, no worries; just get the files and they work.

Heh. For the Maximus DOS vs. OS/2 wars I favour DOS, mainly because it runs
all the games and doors. You can't have a BBS with no doors !
