A goofy UI is not non-linear video editing though.
The new CPU's are designed to do well on streaming applications like NLVE
with the L1 tweeks that attempt to detect streaming and respond accordingly
by prefetching cache lines.
Bloated UI's are a whole different issue. KDE is mostly C++, and GCC has a
proclivity towards plumpish code even when compiling ordinary C. Even with
that, KDE manages to perform acceptably on a relatively modest CPU. When
you're pissing away memory the way Gnome does, there's some fundamental
design issues.
