Leader says Iran-Saudi ties essential for Islamic world

TEHRAN, June 12 (MNA) - Visiting Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister 
Prince Saud al-Faisal held talks with Supreme Leader of the Islamic
Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei here on Monday.

He delivered a message from Saudi King Abdullah and said that the
monarch calls for further expansion of Tehran-Riyadh ties.

Ayatollah Khamenei thanked the Saudi king and said that Iran-Saudi
Arabia cooperation is essential for the Islamic world and carries
short-term and long-term benefits for the two countries.

Iran and Saudi Arabia should take steps toward establishing 
a strategic cooperation to resolve the various issues of the 
Islamic world and unite the Muslims, he added.

"Differences between Muslims and their weakness would benefit the
hegemonic powers and the enemies of Islam," the leader noted.
