AP> Fidonet's history... with Dbrige, your hub, and I think you may now be the
AP> curator of Renegade.
For many reasons, I stuck with a particular version of Renegade, obtained the
source code, and made my own modifications and bug fixes. The newer versions
that were "officially" released were not up to my expectations. Reflecting
now, it really wasn't anyones fault, but at the time I made a big stink about
some of the direction it was heading in.
The Titantic Board was the "official" Renegade support site and thats been
shut down for quite some time now. The Sysop moved on to that pesky real-life.
I like to think I became friends with him and we used to trade some creative
"digs" at eachother. Every now and then he'll call my board to say hello.
Others moved on to Synchronet or Mystic... I'm a huge fan of Mystic but my
system can never, ever change from Renegade. I'll mandate that in my will.
As far as I know I'm now the last remaining Renegade BBS system in the world.

AP> But it's 2017 now... and unlike 1995 when you could cut off a node and not
AP> think of it every node counts now. Plus, like you, Doc has a lot of histor
AP> he's been around quite a long time. Perhaps we can chalk this one up to a
AP> momentary lapse in judgement. Fidonet, like it or not, has become a bit mo
AP> personal than it was in the past... in 1995 we could just cut off a misbeha
AP> node without a second thought. Now, as in the case of Alan Ianson, when
AP> someone disappears it stings.
No arguements there...
