KD>Right now, all 3 modems have FAX... Why? I don't know... I don't use
KD>any FAX software, I don't have any of my modems setup in FAX mode
KD>either...
KD>My question is... If they can make a modem with FAX, why not one
KD>without it?
There's no point...I don't think any non-fax support DSP's
exist, and its a bigger pain to pull fax then to leave it
available.
KD>Would the difference in price be worth not having FAX?
Nothing would be saved. By the time the modem handles
2400bps data and error correction, it will handle FAXes.
KD>For a Sysop, (and one that runs a multi-line, multi-computer BBS) FAX
KD>is not a issue... No one really needs it.... I'd like to see what
KD>others think about not having FAX in the SupraFAXmodem 28.8K
KD>externals...
That depends on your needs. Some systems that use independent
nodes or sessions for each line can handle faxes on each, and
in the case of a business board, it might be VERY cost effective
to have one BBS/FAX pool.
