Clearify!  1636cps is generated by the error correcting!  Turn compression 
ff
and you will still get 16?? to 17?? cps on a 14400 connection!  If 
ompression
is on and its a 14400 then the computer to modem speed should be 38400 to 
allow compressable data to be compressed!  I have obtained 2100cps for 
compressable files, plus ansi/ascii screens fly up faster with compression.
