YEp, but usually they're not around then because they've
lost interest in collecting its history .

Yah but when we had to do that the producer usually made the call. I just
push buttons and turn knobs .

YEp, big mistake on my part. she was a friend before she
was a client, even though I met her in a professional
context. editing the multi-tracks to make mixdown easier
with her present was a real adventure. Example: I'd kill
everything but the piano and her vocal lines so I could
record silence on the little musical interlude between
verses etc. SHe'd holler and ask me what happened to that
lush arrangement, etc. I finally gave up, even though I
prefer to do such edits before I save the project back to
archival media so all I have to do is import it in ready
form when time comes to do final mixing and production on
the tracks. THey're two different skill sets, and I don't
translate from one to the other very easily. TO keep my
ears and mind fresh on the mixing sessions I like to have
all those little piddling edits done and be able to
concentrate on the artistic part of the craft: i.e. balance
between elements, stereo placement, etc.

THanks, you don't want to get me started on these sorts of
shop talk discussions I guess .

\YEp, sacred cows make great hamburgers .
