I'd much rather have a degraded signal than no MR> signal at all or a stupid blue screen! Back in the days of monochrome TV, I had this largish Philips portable, a hybrid set which had two side boards that folded out after undoing a couple of screws. This set had the most freakish reception, I could get all the country stations and occasionally some interstate skip on plain old rabbit ears antennas. I showed it to some friends, who dobbed me in to the local paper who wrote a few lines about it. I cant remember what happened to it in the end, I think I gave it away, but the point is that I've never struck another television with such a powerful front end on it. Always had a crystal clear picture!
