DR> Good question. I see them advertised in various magazines and
DR> such. Never really paid them much mind as they were not of a primary
DR> interest at the time.
That's cool, when I get around to building a hold button for my phone
I'll research it a bit more!
DR> Copyright law is federal. Once a [federal] court (of appeals or
DR> higher) makes a ruling, it applies equally in all the states. I have
DR> reason to believe that the latest ruling came from either the
DR> appellate level or the USSC itself. But I read so damn many cases
DR> that they all tend to run together (in my mind). So I caution anyone
DR> to double check. If I am mistaken then the ruling would only apply to
DR> a certain jurisdiction till another (other) circuit[s] agreed. But I
DR> do know that a ruling was made and ASCAP wasn't at all happy with it.
Ahhhh, ok, well I guess I better double check then if I ever decide to
do this. But at work we have a radio station on our hold system and we
are being told they are going to have to get rid of it because of this,
I better tell them to check the law about it!
