For someone to qualify for a Habitat home, they must work on the project as
the home is built. IIRC, they must also be able to assume the mortgage,
which will be less expensive than a regular one.

Most of the construction contractors are volunteers, and at least some of
the materials are donated, presumably for the tax write-off.
