Hiya Will,
On 26-01-98, whilst lying in the gutter of the information super highway, I
heard Will Hargrave whispering to Gerry Danen about Upgrade,
GD>> Going to 10baseT from coax-based Ethernet will increase reliability.
WH> Eh? 10Base2 is generally /less/ reliable than 10BaseT - if one node
That's what the man said Will.
WH> Arcnet is very robust. It's not inherently unreliable.
It's still generally a co-ax.
 WH> Although it's 2.5mbits, increasing the speed to 10mbits ethernet won't
WH> give a 4x speed increase, because of the greater efficiency of the
WH> modified token ring protocol Arcnet uses.
Do what I'm doing. Go to 16meg Token ring. =o)
Anyone care to work out the theoretical and practical improvements in
performance of 16meg Token Ring over 10base2 Ethernet?
