Ah right so you're somehow thinking that std users want to do cutting edge
gaming ? If so get a an Xbox or Playstation & don't waste your time
with a pc. However I can't see the UK gov keen on making all it's employees
into cutting edge gamers.

You want "good enough functionality" + low h/w costs/uses std h/w
+ low vulnerability to viruses etc. AKA "Does the job, costs me (&
thus the taxpayer) less".
Gee "good enough" is what got the pc where it is. Since when has
the pc itself been in a shape to deliver glitchless sound & video?
