AA>> (because you mentioned "borderline porn movie"). LOL I was
AA>> thinking "Doug has a pretty lame idea what porn is".
AA>
DC> I'm so sorry, but I'm laughing my ass off over what you just
DC> said. I can't imagine what you were verbalizing as you were
DC> watching that shit.
Laughter was the goal. Glad it worked.
30 minutes in.. no porn. 45 minutes in.. some "relationship" stuff. 55
minutes in.. maybe we're getting somewhere. 75 minutes in.. still nothing that
qualifies as porn. 90+.. film is almost over. WTF! ...no porn. LOL
AA>> It turns out that Hostile was not entirely bad at all.
DC> Hmm.. maybe I'll watch it. I'm not a big zombie fan.
The film does not scream zombie at the viewer. Hopefully you will enjoy it. The
reviews and commentaries all over the internet give consistent praises.
DC> ..the movie SAW, paled in comparison to
DC> Hostel. They took the movie too far. I haven't seen any of
DC> the others that have been released. If they could top the
DC> first, I wouldn't want to.
Yes.. I read that there was a Hostel II and a Hostel III
DC> cut up by a chainsaw. Whenever our society turned to
DC> demanding more realismn in violance is beyond me. I was
DC> content with the likes of Scarface, the Shining, and the
DC> original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, level of "shock."
I saw all 3 many many years ago.
I don't think it's about people demanding more shock. I think it is producers,
writers and filmmakers testing to see what they can get away with.
I'm pretty happy with the film noire genre. There are elements of treating
death like it was existential, sometimes humour thrown in. Gruesome details
are not necessary to effectively be shocking or portraying horrors.
DC> Hmmm... I love spy shows and novels, a better one (but
DC> similar) is on the tip of my fingers but can't recall this
DC> AM. I'll try to provide some recommendations.
Looking forward to it.
