Especially when I'm trying to convince old users who already had issues with Fido based on their memories of how it was in the past to come back and give it a try. The problem is there is no way of measuring the damage really... how many people saw how this backfired and started reconsidering whether it was worth staying around here. For some maybe it did cause an uptick and maybe that uptick will help.... but for some echos I think it just put the ! on the fact it was dead. I had really wanted to get an Atari echo going again. The problem is a lot of the userbase for the real retro BBSs are wary of networked messages. And when something like this happens right in the middle of trying to convice them that stuff like this doesn't happen anymore? TLDR; I agree with Nick. --- RATSoft/FIDO v09.14.95 [JetMail 1.01] (1:2215/1701.0)NA> --- Renegade vY2Ka2 * Origin: Joey, do you like movies about * Origin: STar Fleet HQ - Atari BBS Running RatSoft ST! bbs.sfhqbbs.org:5983 |
