The summarized descriptions of their crimes sound somewhat common, but there are probably certain details that weren't mentioned that took their charges to federal courts.
"Murder with the intent of preventing testimony by a witness, victim, or informant. Retaliatory murder of a witness, victim, or informant."
I got that quote from an attorney's website. Those are some of the circumstances that result in federal charges.
