VBG Like collecting odd size cardboard tubes because they are about the right size for a coil former. Not to mention metal plate variable capacitors of all sizes or buying 2000 ohm ex miltary headphones. These things are cheap and always found in the enthusiasts junkbox. A bought an old seachest full of these things 15 years ago for $20, you just dont see that sort of stuff around any more. The crystal sets I made as a kid used to sound so sweet, although my first ones had selectivity problems, later ones I adopted the tapped tuning coil principal.
