JD>Sounds like you had a good dive. I've heard there is
JD>usually a good current on the Duane. It's a deep one
JD>too if memory serves me right. Some day I hope I
JD>get to do this one.
SE>The current usually runs between 1-2 knots, so the divers
SE>really need to have some experience in high current situatiuons.
SE>The wreck sits in 120 FSW and most operators will only let
SE>you explore the decks above the main deck which sits in 100 FSW.
Is the Duane sitting off of the coast of St. Thomas? I remember going on a
dive in 89 there. The first dive (also my first ocean dive) was great.
It was around a pinnacle that used to be used as a pirate lookout. Then we
went to a sunken freighter in a kind of channel. The current was so strong
that 4 of us were swept aft and were unable to get to depth. Heck I
couldn't even reach the anchor line off of the bow. We had to get pulled
back in by rope line. I wonder if this was the same wreck.
