Hello Cindy! 29 Jun 05 17:25, you wrote to me: RC>> But if you want to press this argument, why must you shove your RC>> atheism down everyones throat? CH> Um. Where am I shoving? This is HOly Smoke isn't it? ONE place CH> atheism vs religion discussed freely no? Yes. I am debating your advocations, not where you are advocating them.. :) RC>> 2. RC>> I dont support the open warfare some radical atheists such as RC>> yourself have engaged in towards those of faith, such warfare RC>> only reinforces the resolve of the radical factions of both sides RC>> which only makes this war self-perpetuating. CH> I don't really want to be radical or militant because I KNOW those CH> methods do not work to change anything other than to set the CH> opposition even more so opposed than ever. But some days it feels good CH> to vent and this is Holysmoke. IIRC Steve said something to the tune CH> of how it's okay to vent just try not to burn the house down. Billy Graham and those that believe as he does are not evil, nor are they ignorant just because you say so. I simply took issue with your broad stereotypes.. Had someone came in and made stereotypical and negative remarks about people of the fairer sex, other races or homosexuals, the same way you did, you would have trained your 14 inch guns at them and told the gun crew to "fire".. :) RC>> You are being an alarmist and cannot prove that you are having RC>> your personal beliefs violated by those whose beliefs differ from RC>> your own, CH> No but the kids are having their brains washed. Or maybe I should CH> think of all those expressions where xtian and jesus are tacked cutely CH> in, are just mindless expressions instead of subliminal pursuasions? Again you are being alarmist. People of faith arent gonna raise their children to be atheists simply because you think they should. I turned out ok and I was brought up with my mother hauling me to church every sunday, when I got old enough she let me find my own way. Take this analogy for what its worth.. "do not be surprised if the meatcutters children turn out to be vegetarians.." RC>> rather it merely burns your britches that others who are of faith RC>> dare believe different from you, otherwards they arent actively RC>> antagonizing you, you are however the one on the offensive. CH> No. BUt I think you're a little hot under the collar right now CH> arenb't you. :) I do know how it is when we step on the alligator we CH> better expect some retailiation. Not hot under the collar, I want to hold you to some of your liberal standards, if its is wrong to stereotype people of some demographic (see above) then it is also wrong for you to stereotype people of faith, regardless of that faith. CH>> That is true but we are the victims of those who push their CH>> views on others rather than simply keep those view to themselves CH>> as we are expected to do with ours. RC>> Do you believe that atheists have their victims too? CH> Their oppressors? Seems to me that the atheist causes have been making inroads in the major court rulings for the past 40 or so years, who is oppressing who? I dont see the atheists stopping anytime soon until they have forced all religion or at least the Christian one, into the closet. CH> Okay. Look at this. YOu know there's tons of anti-atheist jokes out CH> there. We're suppsed to just laugh at them. But make a joke about CH> xtiains (anti-theists) and oh dear oh my!!! NO that can't be done! I havent heard any atheist jokes, care to share some? CH> Why is that? Doesn't tolerane of what one feels is destructive keep it CH> alive an going? If you cant respect others, how can you expect others to respect you? I'll let you philosophize on this for a while? :) == Ross Fidonet Feeds Or Fidonet In Your Newsreader! http://www.easternstar.info Blog Or Discussion Forum: http://www.cassell.us Email: ross[at]cassell[dot]us ...
